The star, with artist husband Richard Bell and son Zac, 4, packed up
her fresh-air Tassie farm for the big smoke in February to begin
shooting new Channel 7 drama Packed to the Rafters, which hits
screens after the Olympics.
Now Gibney can't wait to get back to her rural retreat after filming
on the first series wraps in two months.
"Sydney is a beautiful city, and it has been fun to have everything
at your fingertips, but we have been constantly sick up here for the
past four months," Gibney said.
"There have been bouts of pneumonia, the flu, it's definitely a sign
to return to the country."
Packed to the Rafters follows the tale of 40-something couple Julie,
played by Gibney, and Dave, former All Saints doc Erik Thomson who
wave off the last of their three adult children, only to have them
all return to the family home following a series of unfortunate
events.
Gibney said the 22-episode drama fulfilled her dream to act
alongside close friend Thomson. "We had always wanted to work
together," she said.
The show, Gibney's first major TV role since Zac was born, meant she
had to hand over full-time parenting reins to Bell.
"I have missed spending time with Zac, but I have been lucky in that
some days I have only had to shoot four days a week," she said.
"When we go back home, I will start being a full-time mum again and
Richard will go back to painting full-time."
