It's Philip Pullman and he's probably my favorite author of all time. I loved the Subtle Knife, loved that whole series...
I've read a few Grisham books but they all seemed sort of the same to me. Good, though. Dan Brown's books are like that, too. Anyways, my favorites are:
Life of Pi by Yann Martel -- definitely one of my favorites after The Subtle Knife...
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime -- can't remember the author at the moment, but a very interesting book...
Horse Heaven by Jane Smiley
Death of a Salesman by some guy. It was neat.
1984 was interesting, but I'll probably never read it again
It's got so many dotted eighth notes in it/I'd keep 'er under fifty beats a minute
Re: Books
What is life of pi about? I heard of it and was thinking about reading it but haven't gotten around to looking for it at my book store...

Re: Books
Life of Pi's about an Indian boy who's moving to Canada with his parents, but their ship goes down and only he survives. And the ship was carrying a cargo of zoo animals, so he ends up on a lifeboat with a hyena, a zebra, an orangutan, and a tiger-- but eventually it's just him and the tiger. It's really interesting-- he makes it seem so believable.

It is!
Pick it up... I did a book review on it. I also like how it has 100 chapters... but only 400 something pages...

Re: Books
I'm reading the Crucible right now in my American Literature class. It's pretty ... boring ... But some parts, I gotta say are pretty disturbing. I guess there are a few interesting spots. But NO ONE in my class wants to read, so I always have to do a LOT of reading out loud, which isn't really cool ...
but whatever and ever
AMEN ..
ok .. that's the second time i said that, and if you haven't gone and looked it up yet, Whatever and Ever Amen, is an album by Ben Folds Five. Which ... you all absolutely MUST buy and listen to ... no joke .. that's an order
hey .. and guess what .. BEN FOLDS IS COMING TO LAWRENCE KANSAS (my hometown) ON NOVEMBER 6TH!!!
GUESS WHO"S GOING!?

Back to books: In drama we're reading King Oedipus... which is a story about a King Laius and a Queen Jocasta who have a kid, but there was a prophecy saying the kid was going to kill Laius and marry Jocasta (ew sick gross blech) so they give it to a shepherd with instructions to put spikes through its feet and leave it to die on the mountainside... This shepherd doesn't have the heart so he gives it to another shepherd who gives it to a family who raises the kid as their own and name him "Oedipus." Then, when Oedipus is grown up, he hears the prophecy and flees from that land (thinking the small family is his real family) and goes to his hometown (but he doesn't know it's his hometown) and on the way he meets Laius and kills him, without realizing who he is... then finds Jocasta and marries her... the prophecy is fulfilled but no one knows it... it's pretty cool!!
