Sure! There's the chalumeau register, from the lowest E to the next E, then the throat tones from the F to the Bb, then the clarion register from the B to the high C, and then the altissimo range from the C# as far as you can go!

Re: Music Univeristies
Thank you a lot! But how do you call them in general, I mean apart from a clarinet?
Re: Music Univeristies
What do you mean? It varies with each instrument... although I know the saxophone has altissimo ranges too... for brass it's just one overtone after the other...

Re: Music Univeristies
For each instrument another kind of reading notes?? I can´t imagine! And if you are just learning theorie apart from any instrument? (I know I´m very stiff-necked )
Re: Music Univeristies
Well, not for reading notes... but for the tones themselves... how the note sounds on that instrument. Of course there are transposing instruments as well. I've seen certain octaves written like A6 or E3 but we rarely use them...

Re: Music Univeristies
I like our system better....
Re: Music Univeristies
Me too... now I know what octave you're talking about!

Re: Music Univeristies
But back to the originally topic: do you have any idea which university you´ll going to yet? Did you come to any new conclusion ?
Re: Music Univeristies
I'm leaning towards Brandon or U of M because the best clarinet teachers in Canada are there... though McGill is really good too. I also just found out about the University of North Dakota so I'll look into that and see who's there as well. How is your Univeristy going?

Re: Music Univeristies
So you gave up your plans concerning Europe??
My university starts Monday again after Easter break and on Tuesday I´ve a pretty difficult exam (4 hours and about 1500 pages to learn for...)!
