I don´t know if universities in other countries run like this aswell!

Re: Trip to Minot!

Probably... you get to choose your courses and such here too... depending on which university/college you go to...

Re: Trip to Minot!

Oh man, I would hate to have to take the train.  I loathe the old school bus enough. It has no air conditioning and on crowded days it's three to a seat.  The ride is about thirty minutes, and I'm crammed in with my trumpet and seat partner and big fat bag full of textbooks... I enjoy mornings with early rehearsal so I can either drive or get dropped off.

Do you drive to school everyday, Meg? I have had my license since April but I have no vehicle except on choice days when my mother lets me take her volkswagan.

Do the trains ever break down and make you late for school?

Re: Trip to Minot!

Your mum has a "Volkswagen"?? I have a VW Polo too!

Of course do trains break down from time to time and especially in winter when there is a lot of snow or when it´s icy there ary many delays....

Umm, well, Manitoba has a "graduated license" program which means since I have my beginner's license, I have to drive with an adult who's had they're full license for 3 years or more... aka my mom or dad...  I've only driven to school once... usually my mom drives me because she's tired and wants to get there and back quickly.  But usually I take the transit busses... they have air conditioning and heating in winter (you do NOT want to have no heat in our winters...) but sometimes they get crowded and people have to stand.  I usually don't take my instruments home since I practice at school during spares or after school, but on the weekends it's tough... especially with the amount of homework I'm getting these days...

I know, silly, I live in Winnipeg too. I also had the cursed beginner's license, but I got my full license in May. Took my road test in Beausejour.

Re: Trip to Minot!

In Austria we can choose after which system we like to do our driving license. The normal way is, to do your courses and the exam at the age of 18. But for some years there is another possibilitis, which I followed: You start at the age of 16 with driving lessons, and after that you have to drive 3000km with your parents or a person you can registrate (these persons have to have their license for a certain time...). At the age of 17, you can do your exam, but you have to show a list of all kilometres you have driven. If you pass you have your license 1 year earlier and you are allowed to drive alone aswell!

Re: Trip to Minot!

.. how do you pronunce volkswagen?.. folcswaygen? *gg* and do you always say volkswagen? here everybody just says vw

Re: Trip to Minot!

I think they pronounce it quite German - I´ve already heard somebody saying it! It´s very weird that they say the whole word, but they mostly do! (that´s my experience!)

Re: Trip to Minot!

yeah... if you walked up to someone random and said, "I have a VW"  they'd look at you funny for a few seconds... but if you said, "I just got a new car, it's a VW" then they might recognize it...

And yeah... Lisa, your pronounciation is pretty much what we say...
