We got an email from reader Mark Brodersen, who had this to say: "I just came back from vacation and happened to see a guy reading a movie script and starting chatting him up. It turns out he's part of the creative team at Lionsgate (I don't want to say which position as it would blow the anonymity). He's involved with Frank Miller's 'Spirit' movie and confirms that it'll be Lionsgate biggest movie yet and that they hadn't officially signed Samuel Jackson as the Octopus. He said Frank was going to be doing things a little differently with this film than 'Sin City' or '300' and confirmed that Frank would be directing solo." Die Kritiken waren mies und wie es aussieht ist Spirit noch ein grösserer flop als Punisher. Der Interesse an Comicverfilmungen scheint nicht mehr da zu sein.
The Christmas Day box office tallies are in, and theyre not very good for Frank Miller and The Spirit. According to Box Office Mojo, The Spirit took home $3,825,000 on its first day of release, which places the movie at #7 in the top 10 movie grosses for the day. The Spirit debuted in 2,509 theaters for an average gross of $1,525 per theater on its first day. Compare that to Punisher: War Zone, which averaged $1,703 per screen in 2,508 theaters during its entire opening weekend. And it was pulled from theaters only 2 1/2 weeks after its debut. So if youve been waiting until after opening weekend to see The Spirit, you may want to start making plans ASAP. Denny Colt may be hard to kill, but it looks like his movie is DOA.

so, gesehene und für sehr geil befunden. ich bin mir aber recht sicher, dass ich hier wohl der einzige sein werde. miller lebt seinen hang zum pulp absolut aus und der film ist dermaßen trashig und teilweise absurd, dass es gar nciht mehr geht. frauen mit dicken knarren im hurenstyle, dr. octupus in ss uniform, und eine umwerfende optik machen diesen film in meinen augen sehenswert.
