Zitat: With Marvel comics fleet of new What If? stories arriving on shelves later this year, the House of Ideas plans to re-imagine some of the biggest events in comics recent history. Scheduled for a December release, British writer David Hines contribution will be a rewrite of X-Men: Deadly Genesis, last years Ed Brubaker story that completely reframed the classic Giant Size X-Men #1 tale.
Hine will be accompanied by artist David Yardin (District X) and fellow-Brit inker Kris Justice (Agents of Atlas, X-Men: Deadly Genesis) on the story, which will catapult the entire mutant race down an alternate timeline of events.
Mutants have a much better press in this reality, says Hine, contrasting the plight of homo-superior in his story to their current state of affairs in Marvels Civil War. Theyre genuinely seen as heroes, so its the inverse of whats happening in the current Marvel Universe.
Hine says the historic turning point that spurns his alternate history tale is the survival of the first new X-team and the consequences of their success for the third Summers brother, Vulcan.
The two major characters are Vulcan and Cyclops, Hine says, acknowledging that Havok and Corsair will also make appearances in the story.
I wanted to explore how Vulcan would have developed given a completely different set of circumstances, Hine explains. Theres always this questions of whether people are good or bad by nature or by nurture. What Ive done is taken Vulcan and given him an almost perfect situation. Hes always dreamt of being a superhero. Now he gets to be the leader of the main X-team.
Because they survive, the entire history of mutant superheroes changes, Hine states, and as a consequence he and Yardin got to reorganize the X-universe. David gets to redesign every X-characters costume, says the writer. The chance to branch out away from continuity and create their own X-Universe was what Hine says made the book a liberating break from writing books like Mutopia X, which was steeped in the massive crossover of House of M.
I did a similar thing with Mutopia X, says Hine, comparing the premise of the miniseries to What If?. I know it wasnt a What If? situation, but essentially it waskeeping the integrity of the characters and seeing how they would develop differently.http://www.wizarduniverse.com/magazine/wizard/001538231.cfm
Alonso neuer Editor bei den X-Men
Zitat: In chatting with readers on his blog X-Men writer Mike Carey has quietly made it clear that Axel Alonso has assumed the duties of X-Men Group Editor, replacing Mike Marts, who recently moved to DC Comics.
Both Marvel and Alonso have confirmed this for Newsarama, which adds another tier on to Alonsos already hefty list of titles officially now, he is an Executive Editor, as well as Group Editor of the X-Men titles, Marvel Knights titles and MAX titles. In addition, Alonso also edits Amazing Spider-Man, Moon Knight, Ghost Rider, and Punisher War Journal. Assistant Editor Sean Ryan and Associate Editor Nick Lowe will remain on the X-titles.
Look for more from Alonso shortly, here at Newsarama.http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=83084
Re: X-Men News
Re: X-Men News

Re: X-Men News
Zitat: Marvel has also announced that both the Supernovas and The Rise and Fall of the Shi'Ar Empire story arcs will not be collected until after their conclusion. Both the Uncanny X-Men and X-Men story arcs will be collected in an oversized hardcover first featuring all twelve issues of each arc.
