Rumors about PUNISHER: WAR ZONE have been all over the net, centering on a couple of key themes: that it will be cut down to a PG-13 to grab the DARK KNIGHT audience; and that director Lexi Alexander has been removed from the film. First Showing has some debunking based on the DPs postings on a message board:
Lexi is not off the film.
Lexi is still involved in the edit process.
The film is not (nor could it ever be) PG-13.
Today I saw a cut that ran 91 minutes.
Lexi did in fact get married.
Lexi is an incredibly talented director, and this film kicks major ass, as will be proven when it is released IN THEATRES DECEMBER 5th.
The film is most certainly not all exploding heads, but will reveal a great deal of Franks persona and pain.
Spätestens der letzte gepostete Satz davon, sollte Zweifel aufkommen lassen, wie glaubhaft das Dementi ist. Nachdem was die an Teasermaterial gezeigt haben: Da soll Handlung drin sein, Charakterisierung gar ?
Nichts würde ich mir mehr wünschen, als dass der Film am Ende doch noch gut wird.
Was mich aber vor allen Dingen nachwievor zweifeln lässt, bringt ein User der die Nachricht kommentiert, gut auf den Punkt:

Irgendjemand danach noch einen Zweifel, was das für einen Punisher-Film gibt ?
Aber ich bin ja eh schon auf ordentliches Punishment im Kino eingestellt.

In den USA scheint es einen richtigen Flop zu werden, nicht nur bei den Kritikern sondern auch in den Kassen. Zahlen vom freitag:

Der ideale Weihnachtsfilm zur staaden Zeit!
Ich bin überzeugt, dass der Film in Deutschland massiv geschnitten wird. Da muss man wohl wieder einmal auf die DVD Uncut-Version warten.

Fakt ist jedenfalls dass das ursprünglich angesetzte Budget noch gekürzt wurde. Was wohl nicht nur u.a. dazu beigetragen haben soll, dass Thomas Jane ausgestiegen ist, sondern auch potentiell interessierte Regisseure abgeschreckt hat. Wenn man bedenkt, dass der Film davor mit 15,5 Millionen $ auch schon sehr günstig angesetzt war, wie wenig wird das wohl hierbei gewesen sein ?

Der Budget lag bei War Zone bei 35 Millionen $, deutlich höher als beim Jane Punisher.

Das klingt nämlich eigentlich nicht danach, dass das Budget so "hoch" ist.
