SV Mattersburg 1-2 Arsenal

Czech Republic star Tomas Rosicky made his debut for Arsenal on Tuesday in a 2-1 friendly win over SV Mattersburg.

Rosicky, who joined the Gunners from Borussia Dortmund before going to play in the World Cup, came on as a second-half substitute in Vienna.

He almost made a goal but Arturo Lupoli failed to make contact with his corner.

Jeremie Aliadiere and Justin Hoyte scored for Arsenal before Jurgen Patocka, who also hit the bar, pulled one back for the hosts.

Kolo Toure, Emmanuel Adebayor and Emmanuel Eboue all made their first appearances of the season for Arsenal, having also featured at the World Cup.

Rosicky has settled in well - Wenger
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted he is delighted with the way new signing Tomas Rosicky has settled into his new surroundings.

The Czech Republic midfielder, a £7million signing from Borussia Dortmund, can operate in a number of different positions, occupying a left-sided role in Tuesday night's friendly with SV Mattersburg after being introduced for the closing half hour.

Wenger admits he is considering keeping him in that position.

"He can play left or centre, in a three, right or as a second striker, but at the moment I'm trying him there," said the Frenchman.

"He's very quick. I think more than any individual you bring in, you look at the style of play and he looks to fit in our style."

so why, didn't he play last game ? mr. wenger ????????????
