Upgrading Systems

Standard Upgrading - Taking an item to a higher level of +. Weapons, and Armors can be upgraded in this way, up to a maximum of +10.

Example of a normal item

Example of a Standard Upgraded item
(In this case, upgraded to +2)

Requirements:
First five levels of upgrade (+0 ~ +5) require one PowerDice4 per level.
Second five levels of upgrade (+6 ~ +10) require one PowerDice6 per level.
OR, if you use a PowerDice12 you can upgrade from any level to the next level, up to a maximum of +10. PowerDice12 give a higher success rate than PD4 or PD6.

Its a Risky Business!
Upgrading has a level of risk involved. The higher the level of +, the higher the risk of failure of upgrade, and the higher the probability of losing the item due to breakage.

For the first three levels of upgrade (+0 ~> +1, +1 ~> +2, +2 ~> +3), there is NO risk of losing the item due to breakage. Therefore there is no point using an SProtect scroll.

After the first three levels, the scary possibility of losing the item tends to make people use an Sprotect scroll with their upgrade. Sprotects prevent item breakage whilst upgrading.

Also, the Smelting scroll is useful as it reduces failure rate by 10% when upgrading.
Warning though, this is only useful  when upgrading your item at any level  Up to +7
It  wont work when trying for +8 +9 or +10, and its a waste of scroll.

The Sprotect, is used just prior to the upgrade, and it's effect is shown up next to your Buffs.

To Perform an Upgrade:

Make sure your item is in your Bag. You cannot upgrade items which you are wearing. Also, make sure you have the necessary Required items (Power Dice, and possibly scroll).

(Optionally) If you wish to use Sprotect or Smelting Scroll, double-click the scroll in your bag. Personally, I wait for the Scroll-Graphical-Lightshow to finish and look in the Buffs Bar for the Scroll "Buff"-type Icon to appear. If you are using both Sprot, and Smelt, use them both before attempting upgrade.

Double-click the Power Dice you wish to use. Another Graphical-Lightshow appears above your characters' head, resembling clouds and hammers.

Single-Left-Click the Item in your Bag you wish to Upgrade. An animated Cloud will then appear on your item for a short while, then your upgrade will either Succeed or Fail.

If you are lucky, the word Success will show briefly above your head, and your item is upgraded! Whoooooohoooooooooooooooo.  If you were unlucky, the word Failure will show, and its time to get the Hanky out and wipe your eyes  :*(

Elemental Upgrading:
Taking an item to a higher level of Element +.
Weapons, and Suits (Only Suits; no other clothing) can be upgraded in this way, up to
a maximum of +10.  Example ----->

Items start to Glow when you achieve +4 Elemental Level. After this, the higher the level of Element, the larger the aura (though for some levels the Aura doesn't grow). Level 10 is most impressive of all, but will cost a lot.

Note that the Element upgrade has no obvious effect on Attack Rate stats, even at this level of upgrade (+9)
You instead, get an Elemental Advantage on your best opponent, and a weakness against your worst opponent.
This is discussed further at bottom of page (here)

Requirements:
The First five levels of upgrade (+1 ~ +5) require one Level 2 Element Card per level.

Level 2 Cards: (All cards of a certain element have a Card Color. Be careful, as there are many cards which look the same as these, but are named differently, they are used for other things.
(Only the following five cards are Level 2)

VoltageTouchStoneLakeGale

The Second five levels of upgrade (+6 ~ +10) require one Level 3 Element Card per level.

Level 3 Cards: Again, please be careful on the names of the cards you are using.
(Only the following five cards are Level 3)

The Effect of an Elemental Upgrade:

1) Weapon Aura: When a Weapon is element level +4 or above, it glows with a special Aura. The higher the level of element the brighter the Aura.

2) Elemental Advantage: Armors will benefit from a more defense against their best opponent, likewise, Weapons will gain an attack rate advantage against their best opponent.

The following diagram shows which Monsters you will gain most benefit from when choosing an Element to upgrade with.

Example of Elements Strength

Example of Elements Weaknesses

Fire is STRONG against Wind,
Wind is STRONG against Earth,
and so on round the circle.

Fire is WEAK against Water,
Water is WEAK against Electricity,
and so on round the circle

Fire = , Wind = , Earth = , Electric = , Water =

** Remember.  One weapon, or Suit, can only have One type of elemental upgrade.
