Re: Test versions of ToB Remake

Right. Hope I get around to it this week...

Re: Test versions of ToB Remake

Some sentences about the current status of my remake project:

I have finished all important game screens (like options/new game/continue game/tower selection). Before I want to continue with the game logic (maybe it has to be rewritten completely, cause there are many bugs), I want to write a new Tower Editor. The old (development) tower editor version has been written in C# .NET and needed the whole (>20MB) .NET framework to run. Therefore the new tower editor should be done in C++ (with the simple WinAPI). Then it is small and maybe faster...

I don't plan to write an integrated editor in the remake, but the external editor has also the feature to play/test a tower from a menu action (it should start a game from selecting the menu item "test").

Re: Test versions of ToB Remake

May I ask why not an integral editor?
(Just curious)

Re: Test versions of ToB Remake

1) Maybe (yes, maybe ) I want to make the editor as Shareware, and then it is simpler to handle an extra program and not an integrated part of the game (enter serial number etc.)...

2) The GUI of the game is not so good for making things like an editor. So it is better to write an external editor with the posssibilites of the Windows GUI (sizable windows, listbox, file dialogs, scroll bars, menus and so on)

3) I want to learn how to write an application with the old WinAPI This is the faster way than extending the game GUI, so that it is good enough for an integrated editor.

@Artinum: Last week I began with the answers of the interview. I told also Warcus, that he should write some sentences...

Re: Test versions of ToB Remake

(sitting up straight)

Interview? Who is being interviewed?

(Curiosity alert goes off)

Re: Test versions of ToB Remake

My goodness. I'd forgotten about that. You still have the questions, I hope? Because I think I've long since misplaced them!!

You really must do something about that Curiosity Alert. I'm sure everyone was aware of a potential Bytten Interview about the TOB remake many months ago.

Artinum.

Well, go on... send him a private message... if he has activated e-mail notification, he'll get it right away.

Re: Test versions of ToB Remake

@artinum: I still have all questions, but it will take a while to answer all questions, because currently I have no time for remake and and the interview (This summer all my friends will marry and I have no time for me and my hobby)...

Re: Test versions of ToB Remake

Tsk, all these people marrying when there are towers to design!
