Congratulations! How long did you play for all towers (how much time)? nothing else but the result screen (no end sequence)?
25932 points, avg. 222 points per tower. Did you try the most towers multiple times. I mean, there's a retry bonus after each finished tower.
I've played only the first 24 towers (on RToB), yet. The first groups are'nt difficult.
On RTob i moved forward to tower 64 (first tower in group 8???), called "Quick'n easy", to check proximity mine compatiblity, but i've no idea to solve this tower...
But back to tower 25, it seems to be more difficulty

Zitat: Artinum I was expecting some comment on my discovery but... nothing.

Artinum (alone in an empty hall...)Uuh... sorry. The result seemed to speak for itself. Somehow I get the impression Pete Cooke did not really expect many people to got to the trouble of playing the game through, let alone solve EVERY single tower.
Still, do I sense a high-score contest in the making here? Let's see if I can't improve on your score...

And no reloading after failed attempts!!!

Re: Did you finish ToB?
Uh. Too late....... You know, since I didn't find a solution for my savedisk-problems on the Amige version, I started playing the Atari version using SainT, like Mayo suggested. SainT has this pretty nice feature of using memory dumps, which makes reloading even faster than just starting a level again in ToB. So I have to admit I played some tower twice or even thrice without reducing my score...... *ashamed* But I only did that on four towers yet, as far as I can remember! Maybe five, but not more. So feel free to lower my final score by some 60 points. *gg* I'm still far from being finished, though. Didn't spend much time at the PC lately. I'm in group nine right now.
Re: Did you finish ToB?
Yeah! I finally did it. 26070 points. With the afore mentioned restriction of trying several towers multiple times without reducing my score. So it's not really fair... But I'm still curious if there's any way of getting a better score. There were about three or four towers I tought might be possible to solve saving the life of one more spider, thus getting ten more points. So did anyone get a better score??
Now I'm yearning to see what you guys have created!!
And I just hope I'll be able to get access to the old towers of Exiter and me soon... Does anyone know about a way to connect an external Amiga-drive to a PC?? Otherwise I'll have to get my Amiga over here from my mother's house and try a null modem cable.
Re: Did you finish ToB?
It IS possible to save an extra spider sometimes. The obvious example is "The Mini Minefield Puzzle" in the first group. Technically, you need to sacrifice both Zapper and Pusher to blow up those mines and let Grabber get the klondike.
But you can just lose one spider (Zapper). Walk him into the first mine, then have pusher shove the second mine away. Grabber can now grab the klondike from the initial walkway. Score - 220, not 210.
Given that every tower involves at least one spider surviving, the maximum possible score is more than 210 x 13 x 9 or 24570. The most (three spiders on all towers, which is impossible when so many towers only HAVE one or two) would be 26910. So the true maximum is somewhere between those scores, but we'd need to count the number of spiders that CAN survive each level.
Hmmm. What was my score again...?
Artinum.

Score - 220, not 210.Oh my god! I don't remember exactly, but it might well be possible that I even missed this rather obvious one... *ashamed* Usually I'm very kind to my spiders, trying to protect them whenever I can.
So 26080 points should be achievable at least.
Re: Did you finish ToB?
You mean you counted the spiders in each tower?
Artinum.
Re: Did you finish ToB?
Zitat: Artinum You mean you counted the spiders in each tower? No. I just assume my score is fairly close to the optimum, and I think I missed those 10 points you spoke of. Which means 26080 points can be reached, and that's obviously closer to the optimum than 26070 points.
If I got hit by a sudden flash of energy, I could probably write a tool that counts the available spiders in all the original towers, but that would still leave open the question how many spiders can survive. So it's not really worth the effort.
Mayo should ask Pete what he thinks the maximum score is...
Re: Did you finish ToB?
Zitat: Mayo On RTob i moved forward to tower 64 (first tower in group 8???), called "Quick'n easy", to check proximity mine compatiblity, but i've no idea to solve this tower..."Quick 'n' Easy" is actually the first tower in group 7. And the title describes it quite well. Just program pusher ^^ and zapper ^>F>^, take the grabber and run east. First tower in group 8 is called "Fancy Footwork". The principle is more or less "two steps for and one step back", or rather "four steps for and two steps back"...
Zitat: Mayo But back to tower 25, it seems to be more difficulty Group 3, Tower G? "Follow that Camel"? Hm, I can't remember all the earlier towers, but I'd say this one is not too difficult for it's position within the game. Just place the spiders on the lift, use the forcer, and push the reflector along the enemy zappers. No big deal.
