Rory wird angeblich nach Iowa gehen und dort einen Job bei einem Onlinemagazin annehmen. Logan wird angeblich im Finale nicht mitspielen. Im Staffel- bzw. Serienfinale wird Rory ihr großes Idol treffen: Die CNN-Auslandskorrespondentin Christiane Amanpour. Amanpour wird sich selbst spielen.

Während Rory ihren Traumjob als Politikjournalistin erhält, verpflichtet Luke jeden in Stars Hollow dazu, ihm dabei zu helfen, eine Party zu Rorys Abschluss zu organisieren. Auch Emily und Richard besuchen die riesige Feier und Rory dankt in einer Rede sowohl Lorelai als auch der ganzen Stadt dafür, dass sie ihr einen so guten Start ins Leben ermöglicht haben. Lukes Aufmerksamkeit führt schließlich zu einer unerwarteten Reaktion von Lorelai. Am Morgen, an dem Rory Stars Hollow schließlich verlassen wird, öffnet Luke schon im Morgengrauen für ein feierliches Frühstück der Gilmore Girls sein Diner. Unterdessen steigt die CNN-Journalistin Christiane Amanpour im Dragonfly Inn ab und Rory trifft auf ihr jahrelanges Idol.

05/09 - [Lorelai and Emily do not hug before the series is over.] They do, however, have a really nice moment together although it's nothing compared to the final scene between Lorelai and Rory, which Lauren described for me during our chat: "It ends with a shot that mirrors the closing shot of the pilot, which really represents the show. It's Lorelai and Rory sitting in the diner talking about really nothing. Just having a moment together." She added that most of the story lines get resolved by the end of the hour. Emily and Richard attend the huge party, where Rory makes a speech thanking Lorelai and the whole town for giving her such a great start in life. Luke's thoughtfulness brings out an unexpected reaction from Lorelai. Finally, on the morning that Rory leaves Stars Hollow to start her career, Luke opens the diner before dawn to share a celebratory breakfast with the Gilmore girls. Es ist absolut perfekt...Und ich kam gut mit der Tatsache klar, dass man nun keine Hochzeit sah...so war es viel besser...es wirkte abschließend und eine weitere Staffel nach diese Episode wäre falsch gewesen und hätte seltsam gewirkt...

ich bin eher enttäuscht von logan...er wusste immer, dass rory erst der karriere nachgehen will und eigentlich gefiel ihm das auch an ihr...der antrag passt nicht,

Ich muss ganz ehrlich sagen ich bin ganz schön enttäuscht..das ganze ende (also alle folgen bis zum ende) haben mir nicht wirklich gefallen, alles ging viel zu schnell (riesige zeitsprünge) und sooo viele fragen bleiben einfach offen...nee ganz und garnich perfekt...ich meine ok luke und lorelai (schönes ende) rory und logan ...was bitte war denn das???? ich meine ich hab nich erwartet, dass sie ja sagt aber trotzem...puff vorbei oder was.. hmm naja....kann man wohl nix machen ;)..bin nur wirklich sehr traurig das es jetzt vorbei ist...
