Elbow erhielten den Mercury Preis :)
"Das ist tatsächlich das Beste, was uns je passiert ist",
sagte Elbow-Sänger und -Songschreiber Guy Garvey in London,
nachdem sich seine Band bei der Verleihung des Mercury Musikpreises
gegen illustre Konkurrenz durchsetzen konnte.
Als beste Alben des Jahres nominiert waren insgesamt zwölf Platten,
darunter Veröffentlichungen von Radiohead, dem Dubstep-Künstler Burial
sowie der erst 19-jährigen Sängerin Adele. Doch es waren Garvey und seine
vier Bandkameraden, die den beliebten und bei Kritikern hoch angesehenen
Preis gewannen, der seit 1992 alljährlich an die qualitativ besten neuen Bands
und Künstler aus Großbritannien verliehen wird.

Sänger Garvey sei "ein Held. Er ist der betrunkene Poet am Ende der Bar, der diese gewisse Coolness-Aura besitzt. Und das seit Jahren."

Das NEUE Album wird das Letzte...
Keine Panik jetzt, das heißt nicht, dass es nie wieder neue Songs von Elbow gibt. Frontmann Guy Garvey gab lediglich bekannt,
dass das kommende Album 'The Seldom Seen Kid' das letzte Album in physischer Form sein wird. Denn in Zeiten der sich immer mehr etablierenden digitalen Downloads sieht er für das Medium der CD/LP keine Zukunft

A Christmas Message From Elbow
Hello, how are you, Happy Christmas, mantra luna and hi.
Bloody hell what a year! Just thought I'd drop you all a line to thank you for this year and all of those years previous. Starting with our 4th 9 out of 10 in the NME, the most amazing Glastonbury and then the Mercury... none of us were expecting all of that.
There's no chance of us ever getting our head around what's happened, but we appreciate all your love and support.
We're going to be working a bit over the Christmas period on another record, but cant wait to see you in the spring.
We've got some tricks planned for the next tour, but rest assured the rumours of the formation dancing are entirely false (only people with 3 legs can dance to our music) i.e. Rolf Harris and anyone from the Isle of Man.
I know Xmas can be stressful, but if you get chance to listen to any of our stuff over the period I recommend a good Irish whisky and some dark chocolate to accompany it.
