Israeli forces erasing Palestinian lives as if they never existed 23-year old gunned down in Hebron
Eyewitnesses reported that no knife was originally witnessed on the scene, though one appeared after the soldiers surrounded the body. I cannot say for sure they put the knife there, but I know even 5 seconds after the shooting I looked, I really looked, and I could see nothing. I am 99% sure of it. But afterwards, it was there. She added if an attack was planned at this location it wouldnt even make sense. He was still 20 meters from the soldiers or checkpoint, in the middle of the night. Why would he wave the knife around?

Yet another Palestinian life claimed in al-Khalil (Hebron)
This is the second cold-blooded murder in the neighbourhood of the Ibrahimi mosque, after 17-year old Dania Arshid was gunned down by Israeli forces yesterday (25-10).
Amnesty International on Tuesday demanded Israel to stop a pattern of unlawful killings in occupied Palestinian territory.
There is mounting evidence that, as tensions have risen dramatically, in some cases Israeli forces appear to have ripped up the rulebook and resorted to extreme and unlawful measures, said Philip Luther, Director of the Middle East and North Africa Programme at Amnesty International.

Home demolitions as collective punishment: another Israeli colonization strategy
On October 4, at 4:00 in the morning, 8 Palestinian men were arrested under extremely violent conditions by Israeli forces in the city of Nablus, North West Bank. The men have been accused of participating in the killing of two illegal Israeli settlers driving a car on the Beit Furik road on October 1st. According to a spokesperson for the families of the accused men, no evidence has been presented to uphold the accusations. http://palsolidarity.org/2015/10/home-demolitions-as-collective-punishment-another-israeli-colonization-strategy/

Hundreds of UK scholars pledge to boycott Israeli universities
More than 340 senior academics at UK universities have published a pledge not to cooperate with Israeli institutions.
...The cumulative effect of this recent mindless violence is hugely disturbing. We seem to be in a fast and alarming downward swirl into a savage, unrepairable society. There is only one way to respond to whats happening in Israel today: We must stop the occupation. Not for peace with the Palestinians or for their sake (though they have surely suffered at our hands for too long). Not for some vision of an idyllic Middle East those arguments will never end, because neither side will ever budge, or ever be proved wrong by anything. No, we must stop the occupation for ourselves. So that we can look ourselves in the eyes. So that we can legitimately ask for, and receive, support from the world. So that we can return to being human...
New PressTV Interview on Israeli Peace Rally and Mint Press Article on Kerry Al Aqsa Deal
Last weekend, I did an interview with PressTV about the Israeli peace rally in Tel Aviv. 3,000-6,000 Israeli liberal Zionists rallied for peace talks of some sort with Palestinians of some sort. They made clear they really, really dont like Bibi Netanyahu. Oooohhh, Bibis runnin scared from these political titans. His rule hangs in the balance. This, friends and readers, is the vaunted Israeli left.
Speakers from Meretz, Labor and Peace Now addressed the faithful. Before the demonstration began, Aida Touma-Suliman of the Joint List (a Palestinian-Jewish coalition which is third largest in the Knesset) asked to join the speaker list. She was refused because, as Yariv Oppenheimer said, the list was closed. He might have added closed to Palestinians. In rejecting their participation, he proved once again that liberal Zionism is part of the problem, not anywhere near being the solution. Liberal Zionism concerns itself with not so much with Israel, as with Israeli Jews. Palestinian citizens of this state, and even more so Palestinians of the Territories might as well live on Mars.

Israels executions of Palestinian teens must end, Amnesty says
Israel is carrying out summary executions of Palestinians, Amnesty International has confirmed.
Sometimes it lets injured Palestinians bleed to death.
The human rights group says it has documented in depth at least four incidents in which Palestinians were deliberately shot dead by Israeli forces when they posed no imminent threat to life, in what appear to have been extrajudicial executions.
Amnestys condemnation of what it called a clear pattern of such summary killings came as the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces this month rose to at least 61.

As he waited for a bus, a Palestinian stabbed and killed an IDF soldier and then began attacking bystanders. Bus station security guards then shot and wounded Zarhoum, an innocent bystander. Columnist Melanie Phillips defends Netanyahus lie about the Holocaust
Few pundits have defended Benjamin Netanyahus by now infamous claim that a Palestinian leader gave Adolf Hitler the idea of exterminating Europes Jews. One exception is the right-wing British columnist Melanie Phillips.
Writing in The Jerusalem Post this week, Phillips contends that the Israeli prime minister was fundamentally correct.
As support for her assertion, Phillips refers to a statement made by Dieter Wisliceny, an associate of Adolf Eichmann, the Holocausts architect. During the 1946 Nuremberg trials, Wisliceny alleged that Haj Amin al-Husseini, the grand mufti of Jerusalem, was one of the instigators of the systematic extermination of European Jewry.
Phillips neglected to remind her readers that Netanyahu himself had cited Wisliceny last week while the prime minister was trying to clarify his accusations about the mufti. That damage limitation exercise had been criticized by historians and even by hawkish media outlets.
Are Israels war crimes no longer good for business?
Israeli arms companies promote their products as combat proven. That choice of words suggests Israels ability to test weapons on Palestinians has become a selling point.
Such a ploy was in evidence following Israels 51-day attack on Gaza last year. Once the attack had been completed, Israels arms industry rushed to try and impress prospective clients by telling them that new drone technology had been showcased during it.
While drawing attention to the effectiveness of its weapons may have filled the order books of Israeli arms companies in the recent past, it now seems that growing public opposition to the brutal oppression of Palestinians is starting to hit Israels military exports.
The heads of Israels four biggest arms companies have written to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to notify him that Israeli military exports have declined from $7.5 billion in 2012 to $5.5 billion in 2014. These exports could fall as low as $4 billion this year, according to their letter.
Israel, the Media, and the Anatomy of a Sick Society
....Reading the New York Times, Washington Post, and other allegedly liberal major media outlets, one could be forgiven for thinking that the nature of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is tit-for-tat, that it is the product of an ongoing cause-effect-countereffect relationship. That is precisely how the conflict is portrayed in nearly all so-called respectable papers.

Israeli forces shot and wounded at least 2,617 Palestinians with live and rubber-coated steel bullets through October, the Palestinian Red Cross said Sunday, as clashes carried on into the new month.
A Red Crescent spokesperson told Ma'an that at least 760 Palestinians were shot with live rounds across the occupied Palestinian territory, while another 1,857 were hit with rubber-coated steel bullets.
He said that a further 5,399 Palestinians were treated for excessive tear gas inhalation during the period, while another 246 were injured in other ways, including assault by Israeli soldiers and burns from tear gas canisters.
The spokesperson said that it brought the total injured during October to 8,262 Palestinians.

Boycott Zabludowicz Art Trust
Over the last three decades, as Israels economy has opened up to global capitalist investment, and its status in the community of nations has been normalised, the Israeli state has done everything it can to close down on the possibility of Palestinian liberation. The two processes appear to be contradictory but are in fact mutually supportive. As Israeli capitalist investment in the domestic arms industry has declined, and Israeli capitalist integration into global markets for communications, real estate, and art has increased, the ability of Israel to demand international support for its colonial aggression has increased also. Likewise, as Israeli oppression of Palestinian resistance to colonial rule becomes more sophisticated, Israel-based investment opportunities tend to grow in allure.

Why did Amnesty say one thing in English and another in Hebrew?
A week ago, Amnesty International published a report on Israels summary executions of Palestinians.
As The Electronic Intifada reported, the human rights group said it had documented in depth at least four incidents in which Palestinians were deliberately shot dead by Israeli forces when they posed no imminent threat to life, in what appear to have been extrajudicial executions.
It examined the killings of teenagers Saad al-Atrash, Dania Irsheid, Fadi Alloun and Hadil Hashlamoun.
In some cases, Amnesty said, the person shot was left bleeding to death on the ground and was not given prompt medical assistance, in violation of the prohibition of torture and other ill-treatment.
Amnesty published an Arabic-language release of its report that is faithful to the English version.
Yet the no-holds-barred report was considerably softened for the organizationss much shorter Hebrew press release (translation below).

The city is no stranger to restrictions and violence, with over 800 Jewish settlers protected by more than double that amount of Israeli soldiers all intermingled among 30,000 Palestinian residents.

Israels decades-long policy of holding Palestinian bodies
Israels treatment of the Palestinian dead, and its impact on the living, is being questioned once again as the government continues to withhold the bodies of 22 Palestinians killed following attacks on Israelis during the month of October.
The refusal to turn over the dead to their families -- a policy that Israeli authorities supposedly halted near the end of the Second Intifada -- has provoked controversy among Israeli officials and led tomass protests in the occupied West Bank.
A total of 33 Palestinian bodies were held by Israel during October, and eleven have since been returned, according to the Palestinian National Committee for Retrieving Bodies of Martyrs.
The majority of those being held had killed or injured Israeli military and civilians in attacks, but the actual involvement of others in attacks at the time of their death has been disputed by the United Nations and Amnesty International.

Saudi team refuses to play qualifying match in the West Bank
Tensions boiled between the Palestine and Saudi football federations over the latters refusal to play the second leg of a qualifying match for the 2018 World Cup and 2019 Asian Cup in the occupied West Bank, citing security reasons. ... .... The first leg of Palestine versus Saudi Arabia was originally set to take place in Ramallah, with the Palestine team hosting the Saudi one. But the two federations agreed to swap the fixtures, and on 11 June, Palestine played Saudi Arabia in Jeddah, losing 3-2.
After agreeing to the fixture swap, Tayseer Nasrallah, the spokesperson for the PFF, said, We emphasised to the Saudi brothers the high importance of their support for the Palestinian team hosting its home games in Palestine.
The Saudi teams decision not to play in Ramallah strained relations with the head of the Palestine Football Federation, Jibril Rajoub, who categorically rejected Saudis request to play the match outside the West Bank in a neutral zone. To Rajoub, this option represented a threat to the sovereignty of the Palestine Football Federation.
We need to point out to all those who fear normalisation with Israel that no such fear should arise as long as the goal is to play against the team of Palestine on the land of Palestine, he stated.
Yitzhak Rabin never supported Palestinian statehood
Ahead of the 1992 elections in Israel there was a televised debate between Yitzhak Rabin and incumbent prime minister Yitzhak Shamir. At the end of the debate Shamir was allowed to ask his opponent a question of his choice: Do you really want a Palestinian state within the land of Israel? Rabin answered decisively: I oppose a Palestinian state between us and the Jordan [river]. At the same time, I dont not want 1.7 million Palestinians to become citizens of Israel. Rabin added that he voted in favor of the autonomy plan that Menachem Begin proposed as prime minister in 1978..... ..........The Israeli Left, meanwhile, has invented a populist version of Yitzhak Rabin that never existed. Since Rabins assassination the Israel Left has shoved those facts and details under the rug in order to manufacture its own messiah. Yitzhak Rabins widespread use of the word peace will always enable the Israeli Left to present him as a supporter of Palestinian statehood, despite the fact that he always opposed it. You will never hear a leader of one of Israels left-wing parties admitting at a peace rally that Rabin opposed Palestinian statehood. The myth must be protected so that the Left can be trusted, even if in reality the basis of its mythology is unfounded.
Palestinian women's rights overlooked in favour of national liberation
....Kuttab believes that many NGOs and donors take womens rights as an abstract concept, and their actions are irrelevant to the context. They focus on either the political or social oppression of women, and disregard the manner in which the two work together to reinforce one another.
To be relevant, we cannot just implement UN guidelines and allow them to trickle down, it loses its meaning at a local level, Kuttab explained. Abu-Duhou echoed this sentiment: We cant keep thinking that the state of Palestine is a normal state... what works here doesnt work anywhere else, we are unique in that sense.
Within the process of building a state, Kuttab believes it is imperative that womens rights are not forgotten. By combining the struggle for national rights with the struggle for womens rights, there is hope for a future Palestinian state structure based on principles of social equality.
She affirms that Palestine needs to find a formula where womens rights are on the agenda and not de-linked to the national struggle.
Womens rights are intertwined with national rights, they should go hand in hand, Abu-Duhou told MEE. When were building a state, we know what kind of a state we want: democratic, liberal... within that ideology we build rights, and womens rights should be at the forefront of the national rights movement... one shouldnt take a precedence over the other.
[Women] need to liberated, and at the same time we need to liberate our land.

1,200 Palestinians arrested in October
The Palestinian prisoner rights group Addameer reports that Israeli forces arrested 1,196 Palestinians in the month of October in an attempt to quell the current Palestinian resistance against Israel's occupation. Of these, 177 were children and 16 were women.

A Palestinian Bedouin member of Knesset on Wednesday said Israels holding of Palestinian bodies was immoral and inhuman, as the Israeli government continued to grapple with the legitimacy of the policy.
As usual, every immoral act is accompanied by a security-related explanation, but what is the explanation for this act? MK Talab Abu Arar of the Joint List asked during a Knesset meeting, according to a Knesset press release.
